Pont Neuf: the oldest bridge in Paris despite its name 🌉

The Pont Neuf, one of Paris’s most iconic bridges, is often misunderstood because of its name, which translates to "New Bridge."

In reality, it is the oldest bridge in Paris still in use today. !

🏰 Finished in 1607 during the reign of Henry IV, it was considered “new” at the time due to its groundbreaking features: the first stone bridge (previous ones were wooden), no houses on the bridge, and sidewalks to protect pedestrians from mud and traffic. 🚶‍♂️
