The mystery of the six hidden statues of liberty in Paris
Paris is home to six replicas of the famous Statue of Liberty. 🗽
The most famous is located on the Île aux Cygnes and was installed in 1889 to mark the centenary of the French Revolution, gifted by the American Committee of Paris.
Another small replica used to stand in the Luxembourg Gardens before being moved and replaced.
The Musée des Arts et Métiers also houses the original model, used by Bartholdi to design the statue, along with a copy that is now displayed at the French Embassy in the United States for ten years.
Lastly, a miniature version, only 10 centimeters tall, is embedded in the chest of the Centaure statue at Place Michel-Debré. 🌍
